Justin Whitston, CEO and Founder of leading multi-platform technology company FOD Mobility Group, received the Judges’ Entrepreneur Award at the Northern Tech Awards last night.

The ninth edition of the annual awards ceremony was held at Manchester’s Albert Hall, presented by leading technology advisory and investment firm GP Bullhound. The aim of the Northern Tech Awards is to recognise the fastest growing technology organisations in the North of England and Scotland, showcasing the digital talent of the region and its international importance.

The event brought together 250 CEOs, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from across the Northern tech ecosystem in support of the Prince’s Trust charity, which upskills and supports disadvantaged 11- to 30-year-olds in their career or entrepreneurial pursuits.

The judges panel consisted of serial entrepreneurs, directors, thought leaders and CEOs in the Software, PropTech, FinTech, Digital Commerce and Digital Service sectors.

Speaking of his recent win, Justin stated, “The Northern Tech Awards has become the epitome of technological excellence in the North, and everything centres on celebrating the fact that there are so many great technology companies in this region, especially looking at how the industry has grown over the last five or six years, and its effect internationally. I felt humbled to have been nominated for this award amongst so many great entrepreneurs and tech companies in our field. GP Bullhound is bringing fantastic momentum for technology in the North of England.

FOD Mobility Group was also recognised as one of the top 100 fastest growing technology companies at the awards, following an outstanding period of recent growth. 35 software companies were featured in this list, with FOD Mobility Group recognised for achieving a significant growth rate of 45% over the last three years.

Of the 33 technology companies based in Yorkshire, FOD Mobility Group was featured in the top ten. This growth can equally be seen in the expansion of its workforce and international operations, with the number of employees growing by 111% since 2017 to 74 employees in 2022, and its recent expansion into the European market with the opening of its new offices in Ireland and Germany.

This achievement comes only months after FOD Mobility Group was included in the Financial Times’ FT 1000 list of Europe’s fastest growing companies. The substantial growth of the software sector was noted in the key findings of GP Bullhound’s report with average growth rates in the top 100 list being higher than in the two years previous, showing an optimistic outlook for the Digital Economy post-pandemic.
