Orchid’s business model is based on delivering field marketing programmes, compliance, auditing, merchandising, training and advocacy, for brands and retailers in the UK and Ireland.
Orchid have significant experience with bringing culture-changing and market-shifting products to market and enabling them to establish and grow with a strategic approach to retail execution.
Orchid were conducting a nationwide field marketing campaign for one of their largest clients, global drinks brand Carabao. As part of the merchandising strategy, Orchid were operating a mixed fleet of 35 VW Transporters and Ford Transit Custom vans.
The fleet was funded using three-year contract hire agreements with one of the FN50’s largest fleet providers. Additional services included maintenance and breakdown cover and each vehicle had full vehicle livery, promoting the Carabao brand and product range.
With the vehicles nearing the end of their contracts, Orchid were looking for a more flexible fleet management solution that could be implemented within a short timeframe. They needed to increase and reduce the size of the fleet when required without being tied into any long-term contracts.
Orchid also wanted to avoid certain costs associated with long-term leasing, including upfront payments, early termination charges and end of contract damage recharges.
Orchid arranged a consultation with one of Fleetondemand’s rental experts to discuss the financial and operational benefits of switching from contract hire to a Mini Lease arrangement.
Fleetondemand put forward a detailed proposal to replace Orchid’s vehicle fleet with 35 Peugeot Expert vans, provided through their SelectPlus service for an estimated two-year period.
The vans were sourced and personalised with Carabao branded vehicle wraps before being delivered to Orchid’s drivers at multiple locations throughout the UK.
Orchid’s new fleet includes servicing, maintenance, breakdown cover, a dedicated customer service and account management team, plus access to Fleetondemand’s award-winning online booking system, offering detailed management reporting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The vans are also covered by Fleetondemand’s De-Risk service, which was tailored specifically for Orchid’s requirements.
De-Risk offers Orchid inclusive financial cover for light damage incurred to their vehicles, valued at less than £1,000 to repair, regardless of who is at fault. This includes damage to the bodywork, tyres, wheels and windscreen, as well as replacement keys and misfuelling call-outs.
Orchid made a cost neutral switch from their contract hire provider to benefit from the added flexibility of Fleetondemand’s SelectPlus service.
Once the initial 90-day minimum hire period has been reached, the vehicles can be kept on-hire at the same low daily rate or off-hired at short notice, without incurring any penalty charges.
Orchid also stand to make a projected saving of £10,000 per year on vehicle damage claims using the De-Risk service. It will also alleviate the administrative and financial burden of dealing with the claims process, freeing up valuable internal resources to focus on managing their core business
