To maintain their competitive edge, Orchid requires the ability to increase and decrease their fleet size to meet fluctuating demand and looks for cost-effective and flexible fleet solutions.
Orchid was conducting a nationwide field marketing campaign for one of their largest clients, global drinks brand Carabao. As part of the merchandising strategy, Orchid was operating a mixed fleet of 35 VW Transporters and Ford Transit Custom vans.
The fleet was funded using three-year contract hire agreements with one of the FN50’s largest fleet providers. Additional services included maintenance and breakdown cover and each vehicle had full vehicle livery, promoting the Carabao brand and product range.
With the vehicles nearing the end of their contracts, Orchid was looking for a more flexible fleet management solution that could be implemented within a short time frame. They wanted to be able to increase or decrease the size of their fleet, when necessary, without having to sign any long-term contracts.
Orchid also wanted to avoid certain costs associated with long-term leasing, including upfront payments, early termination charges and end of contract damage recharges.
Orchid arranged a consultation with one of Fleetondemand’s rental experts to discuss the financial and operational benefits of switching from contract hire to a flexible lease with Select Plus.
Fleetondemand put forward a detailed proposal to replace Orchid’s vehicle fleet with 25 Peugeot Expert vans provided through Select Plus for an estimated two-year period. The vans were sourced and personalised with Carabao-branded vehicle wraps before being delivered to Orchid’s drivers at multiple locations throughout the UK.
Orchid’s new fleet includes servicing, maintenance, breakdown cover and a dedicated customer service and account management team. They also gained access to Fleetondemand’s award winning online booking system, the GT Suite, which means they can view detailed management reporting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The vans are also covered by Fleetondemand’s De-Risk service which was tailored specifically to Orchid’s requirements. The De-Risk service offers Orchid inclusive financial cover for light damage incurred to their vehicle regardless of who is at fault, to a value of up to £1,000. This includes damage to bodywork, tyres, wheels and the windscreen, along with replacement keys and misfuelling callouts.
After switching to Fleetondemand's Select Plus product, Orchid saw significant benefits both financially and operationally. Orchid made a cost neutral switch from their contract hire provider to benefit from the added flexibility of the new commercial ground transport programme.
Once the initial 90-day minimum hire period has been reached, the vehicles can be kept on-hire at the same low daily rate or off-hired at short notice, with no penalty charges, which enables Orchid to flexibly adjust the size of the fleet according to business needs.
Orchid stands to make a projected saving of £10,000 per year on vehicle damage claims with the De-Risk service. It has alleviated the administrative and financial burden of dealing with the claims process, freeing up valuable internal resources to focus on managing their core business.
Overall, the switch to Fleetondemand allowed Orchid to save money and streamline their vehicle fleet management processes.
